Interventional pain management services provider Capitol Pain Institute (CPI) has expanded its operations with the acquisition of the US-based ambulatory surgical centre (ASC) Pain Care Surgery of Louisville.

This announcement was made by private equity company Iron Path Capital, which first partnered with CPI in June 2022.

The acquisition of Pain Care Surgery of Louisville will allow CPI to provide a broader range of advanced procedures, such as interspinous stabilisation and fixation, spinal cord and peripheral nerve stimulation, and posterior SI joint fusion, to patients in Kentucky.

It is also part of CPI’s ongoing commitment to delivering comprehensive and personalised care services.

According to Iron Path Capital, Kentucky’s stringent regulations on ASCs highlight the significance of this acquisition, positioning CPI as a distinguished pain practice with specialised surgical treatment capabilities and matching facilities in the state.

The Louisville ASC’s location complements CPI’s existing clinics in Elizabethtown and South Louisville, enhancing CPI’s presence in East Louisville with a new clinic in St Matthews.

Additionally, this expansion is expected to facilitate convenient access to advanced pain management procedures, potentially improving patient outcomes and experiences.

CPI is also investing in the local interventional pain management community by inviting non-affiliated physicians and practices to utilise the newly acquired facility, which will be tailored specifically to interventional pain management needs.

CPI founder and president Matt Schocket said: “We believe that every patient deserves access to the most advanced pain treatments and compassionate, holistic care.

“We are well-positioned to fulfil this commitment and make a positive impact on the lives of those living with chronic pain in the Louisville area by ensuring patients can receive the highest standard of care.”

CPI’s approach further includes a variety of services, from basic procedures, for instance, radiofrequency ablation, to minimally invasive options that aim to reduce medication reliance and provide lasting relief.

With this latest acquisition, CPI now operates clinics and ASCs across six states, ensuring that each of its core markets is equipped with an ASC to meet the growing demand for advanced pain management treatments.

In May 2023, CPI acquired Balcones Pain Consultants and Water Leaf Surgery Center in Texas, US.
