US-based healthcare network Intermountain Health has begun using generative artificial intelligence (AI) solutions from Nuance Communications at its facilities.

The company’s use of Dragon Ambient eXperience (DAX) Copilot is intended to increase clinical and operational efficiency by automating clinical documentation and administrative tasks.

It is part of a strategic initiative to address pressing challenges at US health systems, including clinician burnout, staffing shortages and operational complexities.

Through the use of DAX Copilot, Intermountain Health also aims to broaden access to healthcare services across the seven US states in which the company operates.

The company is also using a suite of other Nuance solutions, including the voice recognition system Nuance Dragon Medical One, the radiology reporting platform Nuance PowerScribe and Nuance PowerShare, an image-sharing network for distributing diagnostic images.

Nuance Communications is a Microsoft company whose solutions are used in more than 77% of all US hospitals.
