The New South Wales (NSW) Government has announced that construction on a new pathology department is currently underway at Nepean Hospital in Kingswood, Australia.
The new pathology department construction is said to be part of the $688m ($1bn) Nepean Hospital Redevelopment, which will provide access to healthcare services for Penrith and Blue Mountains communities.
This project will deliver expanded hospital services, and integrated community health facilities for the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District.
Being built in a newly constructed facility in Building E (East Block), the pathology department is being fast tracked as part of the redevelopment project’s second stage.
Slated to be completed in mid-2023, the department will feature new reception area, labs, services, and administration spaces.
NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard said: “The new pathology department will be in a larger, purpose-built facility and provide significantly expanded pathology services to meet the needs of the growing local communities and boost health outcomes in the region.”

It will also include a new front of house and reception area, along with more in-patient beds that include paediatrics.
