RWJBarnabas Health facility Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center (CBMC) has commenced construction on a $225m comprehensive cancer centre on its Livingston Campus, New Jersey, US.
The new 137,000ft2 multidisciplinary outpatient centre will be RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey’s northern hub for integrated cancer care.
It is expected to bring clinical research, innovative discoveries, and expertise from Rutgers Cancer Institute to patients close to home.
The five-storey freestanding outpatient facility will include private infusion rooms, teaching kitchen, a wig and prosthetic studio, garden terrace, yoga, reiki, and music therapy.
It will provide surgical, medical, and radiation oncology services under single roof.
Scheduled to be completed by 2025, the centre will also include short-term and extended-stay treatment spaces.

By GlobalDataCBMC stated that the construction of the cancer centre is part of the expansion of RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey’s oncology services and the ongoing transformation of the medical campus.
RWJBarnabas Health Oncology Services senior vice-president and Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey director Steven Libutti said: “Breaking ground on a new Cancer Center at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center is the latest example of how RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey are reimagining cancer care for the communities we serve.
“Together, Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center and Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the state’s only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, are transforming cancer services in the region — bringing the latest discoveries and extraordinary, comprehensive cancer care close to home.”
CBMC’s collaboration with Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey will provide patients access to advanced treatment options, such as CAR T-cell therapy, immunotherapy blood and marrow transplantation, clinical trials, and many more that are not available elsewhere.
