Wright Construction has been selected as the successful team following a Request for Qualifications which resulted in two teams proceeding to a Request for Proposals.

Wright Construction operations manager Chris Doka said: “We are very excited to be selected as the design builder for the new Weyburn and District Hospital.

“We’ve assembled an amazing team of trade partners, consultants and health care professionals, and our entire team is looking forward to continuing our collaboration with SaskBuilds, the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the City of Weyburn.”

It will also include a mental health in-patient unit with 10 beds, which will be transferred from Tatagwa View.

Additionally, the hospital will have an Emergency Medical Services garage and a heliport adjacent to it for supporting safer transport of patients.

Weyburn and District Hospital Foundation Board chair Jeff Hayward said: “The Foundation is very eager to see this project move forward.

“The people of Weyburn and surrounding communities continue to support the Foundation’s fundraising efforts and are very deserving of this new hospital.”

Construction of the new hospital is slated to commence next year with completion targeted for 2025.

Recently, Wright Construction built the new Legacy Park Elementary School and community recreation centre in Weyburn.
