The global healthcare industry experienced a 2% drop in new job postings related to environmental sustainability in Q3 2022 compared with the previous quarter, according to GlobalData’s whitepaper on Environmental Sustainability in Healthcare – Hiring Activity in Q3 2022. This compares to a 30% increase versus Q3 2021.
Notably, Building Cleaning Workers jobs accounted for a 9% share of the global healthcare industry’s environmental sustainability-related total new job postings in Q3 2022, up 9% over the prior quarter.
Building Cleaning Workers, with a share of 9%, emerged as the top environmental sustainability-related job roles within the healthcare industry in Q3 2022, with new job postings rising by 9% quarter-on-quarter. Registered Nurses came in second with a share of 9% in Q3 2022, with new job postings drop by 15% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent environmental sustainability roles include Nursing Assistants, Orderlies, and Psychiatric Aides with a 4% share in Q3 2022, Environmental Science and Geoscience Technicians with a 4% share of new job postings.
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2022 were Houston Methodist Hospital, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, Manulife Financial and Weill Cornell Medical College. Together they accounted for a combined share of 13% of all environmental sustainability-related active jobs in the healthcare industry.
Houston Methodist Hospital posted 3,481 jobs in Q3 2022 and registered a drop of 6% over the previous quarter, followed by University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust with 1,244 jobs and a 155% growth. Manulife Financial with 744 jobs and Weill Cornell Medical College with 638 jobs, recorded a 191% growth and a 19% decrease, respectively, while Alberta Health Services recorded a 16% decline with 606 job postings during Q3 2022.
The largest share of environmental sustainability-related new job postings in the healthcare industry in Q3 2022 was in the US with 84% followed by the UK (5%) and Canada (4%). The share represented by the US was two percentage points lower than the 85% share it accounted for in Q2 2022.
