The hospital will also have increased surgical capacity, rehabilitation and aged care services, acute medical services, new drug and alcohol unit, care services for outpatients, car parking and improved public transport links.

By GlobalDataWollongong and Illawarra Parliamentary Secretary Peter Poulos said: “The NSW Liberals and Nationals Government has built more than 180 hospitals and health facilities since 2011 and each one of those has delivered jobs for local communities.
“The new Shellharbour Hospital will do the same, offering jobs during construction, new traineeships, and it will attract the best and brightest to work in the hospital once complete.”
The hospital is part of the NSW Government’s investment of A$11.9bn ($7.97bn) in health infrastructure to 2025-26.
Approximately one third of the capital allocation in this financial year will go towards regional and rural health facilities.
