US-based hospital company Community Health Systems’ affiliates have completed the divestiture of Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill, West Virginia to affiliates of Vandalia Health for a cash transaction valued at $92m.
As part of the transaction, the 25-bedded Plateau Medical Centre sold its entire assets, physician clinic operations, and outpatient services to Vandalia.
The move comes in line with Community Health Systems’ decision which was taken during its fourth quarter and year-end 2022 earnings call.
Vandalia Health, which was created as a result of the merger between Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) and Mon Health System, initiated the acquisition of the hospital on 1 April 2023.
As reported by MetroNews, CAMC president and CEO Dave Ramsey said: “The staff is terrific. They do a great job of taking care of the community and the patients that come to them.”
“It’s got an energy about it in that region. We’re excited about being a part of the community.”
