The University Medical Center (UMC) in Nevada, US, has started a $55m renovation and modernisation project.
Dubbed UMC ReVITALize, it is said to be the largest renovation project in the 92-year history of UMC, according to Las Vegas Review-Journal.

As part of the project, the county hospital’s facade will be renovated, and two healing gardens will be added.
The renovated hospital will feature a new campus, landscaping, signs, and lighting.
Benefits for the campus officials include enhanced parking, enabling improved access for their cars and pedestrians.
UMC CEO Van Houweling said: “The exterior renovation is the first phase of a construction master plan that also will include adding additional beds – UMC currently has 541 licensed beds – and consolidating services for women and children into one building”

The renovation project is expected to be finished in 2025.
Concurrently, the UMC Children’s Hospital in Las Vegas has received a donation of more than $200,000 from the Spirit Halloween’s ‘Spirit of Children’ programme, news3lv.com reported.
During the cheque presentation ceremony, the medical director of the hospital said that the funding enables them to give sick kids access to activities that will take their minds off their medical treatments.
The ‘Spirit of Children’ programme has donated more than $1m to the hospital during the last ten years.
