Altamonte Springs, Florida-based non-profit healthcare system AdventHealth has broken ground on a new hospital at its Lenexa City Center campus in Kansas, reported fox4kc.com.
According to Shawnee Mission Post, the initial phase of construction on the 25-acre campus will be completed in 2025.
The new hospital will feature a 244,000ft2, five-storey hospital building and a three-storey medical office building.
Following the completion, the new hospital will have a 24-hour emergency room and an ICU.
The future phases include around 215,000ft2 area of medical services, a wellness and fitness space and 84,000ft2 of nursing and assisted living facilities.
The new non-medical facilities envisaged include around 100,000ft2 area for commercial space and additional medical offices.

Hospital officials said that the new Lenexa hospital, which will be situated at 87th Street Parkway and Renner Boulevard, will be identical to the south Overland Park campus on 165th Street.
AdventHealth mid-America region CEO Sam Huenergardt said: “This will mirror much of what you see there.
“It is a full-service community hospital with plans to be able to expand into whatever the community needs over time. Lots of room for growth and expansion. This will just be phase one.”
This will be the fourth hospital for AdventHealth in Kansas, with the other three located at Merriam, Overland Park and Ottawa.
