Nirali Memorial Medical Trust (NMMT) has partnered with the Tata Trusts for the establishment of a specialty cancer hospital at Navsari in Gujarat, India.
NMMT is a public charitable trust founded by Larsen & Toubro (L&T) group chairman AM Naik to deliver philanthropic activities in medical care.
The cancer hospital will be developed by NMMT while operations of the facility will be undertaken by the Tata Trusts as per the agreement between the two entities.
The proposed hospital at Navsari, which is to be constructed on land that has been for long associated with the Tata group, will provide cancer care to the downtrodden sections of the society.
This hospital will have advanced cancer treatment facilities including clinical pathology, linear accelerator, USG, histopathology, biochemistry, mammography and digital x-ray.
Furthermore, the hospital will have additional facilities including Brachytherapy OPDs, CT simulators, and operation theatres.
Under an agreement signed by the two entities, the proposed centre will become a part of Tata Trusts’ cancer centre network in India.
Currently, NMMT is operating the ‘Nirali Memorial Radiation Centre’ in Surat and supplies medical facilities at Kharel Hospital in Gujarat. It has AM Naik Charitable Health Centre at Powai, Mumbai, which provides medical care to local communities.
Along with NMMT, Naik also operates the Naik Charitable Trust (NCT) through which it provides education to the poor sections of the society.
Navsari is the birthplace of Naik as well as of Tata Group founder Jamsetji Tata.
