Monash University, the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, and Alfred Health have partnered to establish the Monash Alfred Baker Centre for Cardiovascular Research in Australia to enhance cardiovascular research and clinical care.

This centre aims to improve outcomes for patients with cardiovascular diseases by leveraging the combined expertise of the three institutions.

It will focus on areas such as heart failure, cardiac arrest, arrhythmia, big data analytics, coronary heart disease, medical devices, and cardiac imaging.

By bringing together clinician-researchers and accessing a diverse patient population within Melbourne’s south, the centre aims to advance knowledge and clinical outcomes in cardiovascular medicine and cardiothoracic surgery.

This alliance will also strengthen grant funding opportunities and solidify the precinct’s position as a leader in national and international cardiovascular research.

The centre is expected to play a crucial role in nurturing emerging research talent and establishing a pipeline for clinician-PhD graduates in cardiovascular research.
