Centre Hospitalier de Bastia, a general hospital in Bastia, Corsica, has gone live on the SOPHiA DDM Platform by Sophia Genetics.

The cloud-based platform leverages artificial intelligence (AI) for next-generation sequencing (NGS) data synthesis.

It will enable the hospital to introduce in-house NGS and support its clinical oncology research, particularly in the field of haematologic malignancies.

Haematologic cancers, such as leukaemia and lymphoma, will be a focus, as the platform helps to categorise disease-associated mutations and provide deeper insights, according to the vendor.

By using the SOPHiA DDM Platform, Centre Hospitalier de Bastia aims to enhance molecular testing capabilities, speed up research efforts, and enable data-driven medicine.

SOPHiA GENETICS Business Development and Marketing vice-president Kevin Puylaert said: “Next-generation sequencing has become the gold standard in genomic testing, specifically as it relates to fast-moving and sometimes complex cancers like haematologic malignancies.

“By using the SOPHiA DDM Platform, Centre Hospitalier de Bastia is enhancing their research capabilities and connecting with world-class institutions globally, making precision medicine a reality in Corsica.”

Last month, Turkey’s Ankara Etlik City Hospital integrated the SOPHiA DDM Platform to streamline its genomic research workflow and establish an in-house database of genomic data and insights.

This database is aimed at enhancing research efficiency and enabling experts to make data-driven decisions.
