Proton therapy machine vendor Sumitomo Corporate has ordered RaySearch Laboratories’ RayStation treatment planning system for deployment at Taichung Veterans General Hospital (TVGH) in Taiwan.

The order is worth around €1.9m, which excludes service contracts, with delivery scheduled for 2025.

It covers licences for proton and photon treatment, along with functionality including multi-criteria optimisation (MCO) and dose calculation on CBCT images for proton treatment.

RaySearch founder and CEO Johan Löf said: “The strong demand for RayStation from proton therapy clinics continues and I am pleased that we can support Sumitomo’s compact system, making this technology available in an optimal way to cancer patients in the region.”

The Taiwanese hospital will utilise a Sumitomo proton therapy machine with the compact next-generation system of the vendor.

By adapting RayStation with this system, the hospital looks to accelerate treatment plan delivery for moving tumours.
