Princess Alexandra Hospital in the UK has opened a new £2.5m ($3.21m) facility to support cancer patients as well as their families and caretakers.

The new Technical Services Unit is located at the rear of the hospital and next to the Williams Day Unit, where patients undergo cancer treatment.

This unit will be utilised for preparing chemotherapy medications for cancer patients.

Last last year, work commenced for transforming the former office space into a modern facility where the pharmacy team can generate individually prepared chemotherapy treatment doses for on-site patients requiring haematology and oncology therapies.

Princess Alexandra Hospital noted that the upgraded space and equipment will help in mostly eliminating the current requirement for external support.
