Texas Children’s Hospital has opened the Pavilion for Women Tower II as part of a $245m expansion project within the Texas Medical Center in the US.

Connected to the existing Pavilion for Women via a recently constructed sky bridge, the new tower houses women’s services outpatient clinics namely The Women’s Specialists of Houston, Partners in OB/GYN Care, and Women’s Physical Therapy.

The second phase of a multi-year $245m expansion of the hospital’s women’s services within the Texas Medical Center comes close to completion and is expected to accommodate the growing number of patients seeking labour and delivery services.

The Pavilion for Women, which commenced its operations a decade ago, offers various specialities including pelvic medicine, menopause treatment, maternal-fetal medicine care, reproductive psychiatry, and minimally invasive gynaecology surgery.

Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women assistant vice-president of Women’s Services Michele Birsinger said: “This investment in our Pavilion for Women will allow us to increase delivery volumes significantly, but additionally the added space will also allow us to continue to grow those specialised clinics that cater to women at every stage of their life.”

Baylor Obstetrics and Gynaecology will move to the new tower by the end of 2023, and additional inpatient and neonatal intensive care beds will be added by 2024 to the Pavilion for Women.
