UMC Health System in Lubbock, Texas, has expanded its alliance with AI technology provider XSOLIS, with an aim to make its operations more efficient and cut down administrative waste.
The renewed partnership will include additional payer connections and case management analytics to further support staff efficiency and reduce costs.
According to XSOLIS, this expansion has also led to increased alignment with payers during case reviews, reduced exceptions, and enhanced operational efficiency.
UMC Health System director of case management Kayla Long said: “We were so pleased with our results with XSOLIS that we stopped using previous utilisation review solutions, as well as another outside Physician Advisory group.
“The data transparency we now have access to is unprecedented and has constantly illuminated areas for improvement.
“As a result, we’ve shifted our focus to mitigate denials, which improved our financials and strengthened payer relations.”

By GlobalDataSince deploying XSOLIS’ CORTEX platform in October 2020, along with its Physician Advisory Services and Denials Management Services, UMC Health System has leveraged AI and predictive analytics to streamline utilisation review case reviews and allocate staff more effectively.
The platform’s integration with UMC Health System’s electronic medical record has allowed for broader adoption of XSOLIS’ Care Level Score, an AI-driven representation of medical necessity.
UMC Health System CIO Bill Eubanks said: “CORTEX analytics are accessible in shared views which has created continuity across teams, making it easier for everyone to work toward the same goals versus our previous, more siloed approaches.
“Physicians, nurses and utilisation review teams now have more efficient conversations and increased alignment on patient status and discharge readiness.”
