The PeaceHealth Richard Nau Hospice House in Longview, Washington, is set to open next month via a collaboration between PeaceHealth and Community Home Health & Hospice (CHHH).

CHHH recently sold its outpatient home health and hospice business and partnered with PeaceHealth to continue offering hospice care in the community.

PeaceHealth will operate the 12-bed hospice house, which was previously known as the Longview Hospice Care Centre.

CHHH Board Chair Corey Balkan said: “This partnership reflects the commitment of two community-based organisations coming together.

“It also represents the latest step in CHHH’s multi-year planning process to ensure our region receives the care it deserves, employees passionate about their work maintain meaningful employment, and we honour the legacy of CHHH and the families that have supported it for nearly half a century.”

The facility has been renamed in honour of Richard Nau and will display donor recognition plaques.

A public ‘open house’ event is due to be scheduled for next month.

PeaceHealth St John chief administrative officer Cherelle Montanye said: “We are honoured to operate the facility and thank Community Home Health & Hospice for this partnership that enables continuity of this important service.

“This partnership directly aligns with PeaceHealth’s strategic vision to invest in home and community-based services so that our community members can remain local while they receive care outside of our hospital.”

PeaceHealth is a not-for-profit Catholic health system that serves communities in Washington, Oregon and Alaska.

The group employs around 16,000 caregivers and has a group practice with more than 1,200 providers, as well as ten medical centres across the US’ Northwest region.
