The Aga Khan University Hospital (AKU) in Nairobi, Kenya has deployed US-based healthcare company MEDITECH’s electronic health records (EHR) system, MEDITECH Expanse.
Called AKU OneHealth, this initiative will make seven hospitals and over 340 medical centres paperless as part of AKU’s global digitisation project.
MEDITECH Expanse offers patients electronic access to their health records through a patient portal, enabling them to view personal information, test results, appointments, as well as immunisation records.
AKU Hospital CEO Rashid Khalani said: “Embracing technology in this manner reaffirms our commitment to excellence in the delivery of care.
“This transformative initiative will streamline patient care and open new doors for cutting-edge research and comprehensive medical training.”
The goal is to standardise this system across other AKU hospitals worldwide.
