The Government of New South Wales (NSW) in Australia has unveiled the new schematic design for the A$200m ($130.38m) Bathurst Hospital Redevelopment project.
The government is now inviting the local Bathurst community to review and provide feedback on the proposed designs.
According to NSW Regional Health Minister Ryan Park, the project aims to transform healthcare services in the region with the development of modern facilities.
Park further highlighted that the hospital design has been created after working on extensive feedback from health professionals, patients, healthcare staff, as well as from Aboriginal community representatives and the Community Reference Group.
The redevelopment will feature a mix of new and refurbished areas, including the establishment of an expanded emergency department and maternity services along with the opening of a new non-acute mental health services inpatient unit, named Panorama House.
In addition, the project includes improvements to inpatient, outpatient, community health services, and operating theatres and cardiology services.

The government said that delivering improved access to the hospital is a key component of the redevelopment project, with a new main entrance on Mitre Street, retention of the Howick Street entrance, and enhanced parking options on the surrounding streets for people.
For any further suggestions, the NSW government has also asked the local Bathurst community to attend consultation sessions or provide feedback online.
Park added: “Significant enhancements to clinical services will be delivered to improve patient flow and experience in the expanded emergency department. Virtual and Out of Hospital Care will also help drive greater efficiency and enhanced patient care outcomes.
“The hospital’s design has a strong Connection to Country, with light-filled spaces, alongside direct access to recreational areas and improved connectivity to Victoria Park which will create a welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff.”
Later this year, an official State Significant Development Application is anticipated to be lodged for the Bathurst Hospital redevelopment project.
Construction is expected to commence in 2025 following the necessary planning approvals.
