Array Behavioral Care has partnered with nonprofit organisation Common Ground to enhance crisis care services in Michigan through telepsychiatry.

This collaboration aims to expedite care and improve patient outcomes by integrating Array’s telepsychiatrists with the Oakland Assessment and Crisis Intervention Service (OACIS) of Common Ground.

OACIS is a pilot programme spearheaded by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). The initiative is part of a statewide effort to establish a comprehensive crisis services system.

The programme, set to seek Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) certification by fall 2024, is designed to provide mental health patients with the most appropriate care tailored to their individual needs.

CSUs offer a short-term alternative to emergency departments (EDs) and psychiatric inpatient admissions, with the goal of stabilising individuals within a 72-hour timeframe through treatment and recovery coaching.

The OACIS pilot site will offer an array of services including medication management, group therapy, peer support, and discharge planning.

Array’s Michigan-licensed telepsychiatrists, trained specifically for crisis services in behavioural health, will deliver evaluations and treatment to those experiencing mental health emergencies.

The company’s OnDemand telepsychiatry services will be integrated with Common Ground’s crisis care expertise to provide assessments and consultations.

Array Behavioral Care CEO Shannon Werb said: “As one of the country’s most innovative community health organisations, Common Ground is changing the way mental health treatment is delivered in our communities by evolving crisis care pathways.

“With Array’s licensed psychiatrists supporting the OACIS crisis stabilisation services pilot site, our team’s capabilities are making a real impact in the lives of Michiganders with mental health issues, as well as their families and neighbours.”

This partnership not only aims to prevent unnecessary escalation of care levels but also ensures patient safety post-discharge with comprehensive plans.
