Redhill Cancer Hospital, a part of RVL Healthcare, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Siemens Healthineers to establish a Cancer Center and Research Park in Nairobi, Kenya.
According to a press release issued by APO Group on behalf of Siemens Healthineers, the MoU aims to enhance the quality and broaden the scope of cancer care in Kenya, while also improving regional access to cancer treatment across the broader Eastern African region.
It will also help in facilitating long-term value partnership, such as cancer therapy, diagnostics and imaging solutions, consulting services, as well as maintenance and education programmes.
The new integrated Cancer Center and Research Park in Nairobi is being developed in response to the increasing number of cancer cases across the globe, particularly in Africa.
As part of the MoU, Siemens Healthineers will provide advisory services for the initial construction of the new Cancer Center and Research Park along with the provision of delivering imaging, diagnostics, and treatment equipment throughout the oncology pathway.
In addition, the company will aid the healthcare facility in its sustainable long-term growth strategy through capacity-building programmes, encompassing remote engagements, physical trainings, and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven services.

By GlobalDataAll these educational initiatives are expected to play a crucial role in addressing the shortage of skilled healthcare professionals in Africa, while enhancing the local healthcare infrastructure.
The Research Park, which is closely connected to the hospital, will see collaboration between the two parties, educational institutions, and pharmaceutical companies.
This collaboration aims to establish a centre for pioneering oncology research and serve as a hub for education and training of existing and future healthcare professionals.
Construction of the new cancer care centre is expected to commence in August, with opening projected by the end of 2025.
Once open, the centre will carry out up to 200,000 cancer screenings and nearly 4,000 surgeries annually.
Siemens Healthineers Middle East & Africa managing director Vivek Kanade said: “By joining forces to build this unique Cancer Center and Research Park, we will be one step closer to realising the vision of making essential cancer care more accessible, which ties into our company’s purpose of making healthcare more affordable and accessible for everyone, everywhere.”
