US-based non-profit healthcare provider Ochsner Health has entered an enterprise-wide agreement with DeepScribe, a company that supplies ambient AI clinical documentation solutions.

The partnership will introduce DeepScribe’s ambient AI technology to Ochsner Health’s nearly 4,700 healthcare professionals and affiliated physicians.

Ochsner provides expert care across 46 hospitals, as well as more than 370 urgent and healthcare facilities.

DeepScribe’s ambient AI is designed to convert every patient conversation into a comprehensive, precise note with real-time insights for clinicians.

This aims to allow healthcare providers to focus entirely on the patient while helping health systems reach their value-based objectives.

DeepScribe also offers HealAI, a large language model (LLM) solution suitable for large healthcare organisations such as Ochsner Health.

HealAI is tailored to the specific needs and workflows of various medical specialities, allowing clinicians to choose from nearly 50 options to customise their notes according to their preferences.

Clinicians at Ochsner Health using DeepScribe say they have already seen a beneficial impact on the patient experience, with 96% of patients indicating they would recommend the provider.

Ochsner Health Innovation Officer Jason Hill said: “Our physicians can focus entirely on the patient, knowing that documentation is being completed seamlessly in the background.

“DeepScribe’s Customization Studio and deep Epic integration have allowed us to deploy ambient AI with speciality-specific workflows that accommodate physician preferences while aligning with Ochsner-specific requirements.”

DeepScribe’s customisation features are tailored to workflow, speciality and individual provider needs, allowing Ochsner Health to enforce system-wide standardisation while accommodating providers’ preferences for notetaking.

The company claims that 75% of Ochsner Health’s clinicians have so far adopted the platform.

The partnership allows DeepScribe’s solutions to be deployed more widely across Ochsner Health, with an ongoing emphasis on co-developing ambient AI solutions that address the health system’s organisational and clinical requirements.
