eClinicalWorks, an ambulatory cloud electronic health records (EHR) provider, has announced the implementation of the artificial intelligence (AI) medical scribe, Sunoh.ai, at Douglas County Family Practice.

This AI technology has reportedly significantly accelerated clinical documentation by 90%, allowing healthcare providers to spend more time with their patients, eClinicalWorks noted.

Douglas County Family Practice, located in the US state of Georgia, has experienced a notable improvement in work-life balance for healthcare providers.

The deployment of the AI medical scribe has helped in minimising physician burnout, and has also resulted in the enhancement of both practice efficiency and patient care.

The practice, which specialises in pulmonary care and sleep medicine, has reported the ability to see an average of three to five additional patients daily.

Douglas County Family Practice’s team, comprising board-certified physicians and nurse practitioners, aims to offer personalised treatments, a collaborative environment, and health education.

The health system chose Sunoh.ai for its seamless integration with the eClinicalWorks EHR through the ‘eClinicalTouch 4’ app, which is compatible with various devices.

This cloud-based application grants access to diagnostic tools, patient records, and data analytics across both iOS and Android smartphones, as well as iPads.

Dr Binu George at Douglas County Family Practice said: “Utilising Sunoh.ai increases my stethoscope time, meaning I have more time for the physical examination with patients and allows for 100% face-to-face interaction with my pulmonary critical care patients.

“It has a remarkable capacity for documenting the History of Present Illness (HPI), much better than regular scribes. Innovative technology makes the process more efficient and prevents burnout, as I spend less time on administrative tasks and more time with my family.

“Sunoh.ai has proven to be about 90% faster in creating notes; it saves us about two to three hours daily on clinical documentation. Timely completion of notes resulted in improved billing operations, transforming my practice and patient care.”

eClinicalWorks is known for its unified solutions that simplify documentation, promote interoperability, and enhance patient engagement.

The company’s partnership with Sunoh.ai, a leading AI medical scribe provider trusted by over 40,000 providers nationwide, was established last year to further these goals.

In January 2024, Florida Digestive Health Specialists selected eClinicalWorks and Sunoh.ai to help its healthcare providers enhance workflows and chart patient data.
