US-based Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) has announced the opening of its new Medical Plaza 1, a 34,000ft² building in Bethlehem.

People can now access urgent, primary care and speciality care at this location.

The two-storey facility caters to the healthcare needs of the people in Bethlehem and the nearby Georgia Highway 316 corridor area.

Medical Plaza 1 is situated at 990 Loganville Highway, close to the intersection of Carl-Bethlehem Road, which can be accessed from Highway 316.

The building now houses Northeast Georgia Physicians Group (NGPG) Family Health Associates, which is a long-standing primary care office that has relocated from its previous location in downtown Winder.

Georgia Heart Institute, NGPG Sports Medicine, and NGPG Orthopedic Surgery have also moved to this Medical Plaza 1 site.

In addition, NGPG has rolled out a set of new services under the area with urgent care facility, which will be operational every day starting from 8am to 7:45pm, as well as general surgery.

Apart from these services, the health system is planning to introduce obstetricians and gynaecologists (OB/GYN) services from next month.

NGHS president and CEO Carol Burrell said: “Seeing this building come to fruition in a community that means so much to me is a special thing.

“I grew up in Barrow County, so knowing these services will be here for generations, with providers who bring their best every day, is a perfect picture of what we mean when we say NGHS is ‘Growing the Greater Good’.”

According to NGHS, Medical Plaza 1 in combination with all its services is directly linked to five different hospital campuses, including the NGMC Barrow campus, under the Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) located across the region.

Through this direct connection, people can access the comprehensive expertise and resources of the entire health system in one place.

NGPG Family Health Associates family medicine physician Garey Huff said: “We are thrilled that people who trust us with their primary care will now have so many high-quality specialists literally right next door when needed.

“That should make it so much easier for people to have multiple appointments all in one place.”
