Australia’s New South Wales (NSW) Government has announced that it has released the construction tender for the main works for the Moree Hospital Redevelopment project.
The recent achievement brings the redevelopment project closer to its completion.
For this project, the NSW government is allocating approximately A$105m ($70m) to enhance health outcomes for Moree and its neighbouring areas.
This investment will fund the construction of a new clinical services building on the current hospital site, delivering upgraded healthcare facilities that are designed to benefit the existing and future healthcare needs of the local communities.
In addition, the redevelopment project is set to feature a new emergency department (ED), a birthing and inpatient unit, operating theatres, a pathology department, and medical imaging facilities, along with a redesigned main entrance.
The new building has been carefully planned to integrate seamlessly with the existing structures on the hospital campus, ensuring a cohesive and connected service environment, the government noted.

By GlobalDataAs the planning phase of the hospital redevelopment nears completion, the detailed design, prepared by early works contractor BESIX Watpac, will soon be showcased for public review as part of the statutory planning process.
The NSW government stated that interested companies can view the redevelopment plans and submit their feedback on NSW Health Infrastructure’s website until 1 October 2024.
Upon completion of the competitive tender process, a builder will be selected, and the project’s scope and construction timeline will be finalised.
The associated construction work for the project is expected to begin next year, and the community will receive ongoing updates as the project advances.
NSW regional health minister Ryan Park said: “The Moree Hospital Redevelopment will provide patients, families, and carers with a modern healthcare facility to meet the health needs of the community now and into the future.
“We are grateful for the valuable time and input provided by staff and stakeholders into the planning design process for the redevelopment and look forward to seeing a builder appointed.
“This is also a great opportunity for the community to provide their final feedback on the plans while they are on exhibition.”
