Digital healthcare solutions provider Vivalink has launched a new programme for nonprofit hospitals in the US.

With the Hospital-at-Home (HaH) Starter Program, hospitals will be able to explore remote patient monitoring (RPM) solutions for acute at-home care without incurring any costs.

This initiative comes as HaH gains traction, supported by policies like the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) waiver.

Research indicates that hospital-level care at home can be more effective and patients prefer this over traditional inpatient care.

CMS data shows that home-treated patients have lower mortality rates and fewer complications compared to those treated in conventional hospitals.

Vivalink medical advisor Dr Caroline Yang said: “HaH is an innovative model of care that brings the right level of care to the right patient, at the right place and at the right time.

“It truly allows us to meet the patient where they are at, emotionally and physically, which in turn enhances the quality of care we are able to deliver.”

The programme provides a comprehensive set of tools necessary for initiating RPM for HaH.

This includes a Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-cleared wearable ECG patch capable of monitoring vitals and ECG continuously for acute remote patient care.

Additionally, the programme offers a clinician portal, a web-based interface for monitoring multiple patients simultaneously, providing real-time continuous data, trends, and alerts on changes in vital signs.

It also includes a mobile gateway and patient app that are pre-configured and ready for immediate use. The app ensures a seamless experience for patients with no installation or complicated setup.

Comprehensive training and support are also part of the programme, offering complete guidance for hospital staff and clinicians on technology implementation, patient onboarding, and ongoing usage.

Vivalink supports HaH programmes not only in the US but also globally, including in Canada, Australia, and the UK, with local health clearances secured in these regions.

Nonprofit hospitals in the US interested in the no-cost programme can apply through Vivalink’s website.
