Medical technology companies Olympus and Proximie have partnered to provide digital solutions for operating rooms.

The collaboration aims to digitise surgical environments and encourage global telecollaboration in healthcare.

The partners have a reseller partner agreement in place for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), allowing Olympus to distribute Proximie’s products across the region.

Proximie’s cloud-based platform enables physicians to share live clinical video, audio and imagery from the operating room with colleagues and vendor partners around the world.

The system is designed to drive clinical and operational best practices, expand teaching opportunities, and reach a broader audience of learners.

Its device-agnostic nature allows secure training sessions to be scheduled, while the platform also allows clinicians to view procedures with up to four high-definition, low-latency video feeds.

Proximie’s healthcare solutions can either operate on a standalone tower or integrate with other solutions.

Proximie founder and CEO Dr Nadine Hachach-Haram said: “We are delighted to formalise our global partnership with the Olympus Corporation.

“As an agnostic solution for the healthcare sector, we are committed to widening our global impact, supporting surgeons to meet rising demand for diagnostic and interventional care and help improve patient outcomes.”

By partnering with Proximie, Olympus aims to improve clinical practices and patient outcomes by connecting physicians, surgeons, clinicians and students.

The company said that telecollaboration is a significant aspect of its portfolio of medical solutions.

Olympus Endoscopy Solutions Ecosystem global head of commercialisation Engin Demirel said: “We’re thrilled to join forces with Proximie to provide our customers with a top-tier digital health platform, including telecollaboration capabilities.

“This partnership will help break down learning barriers and provide healthcare professionals with access to the knowledge needed to enhance patient care and outcomes.”
