Indian healthcare chain KIMS Hospitals has announced its expansion into Kerala to develop medical facilities.
The focus of this expansion is to enhance healthcare standards in the region and ensure that medical care is accessible to all patients there.
Over the next five years, KIMS Hospitals plans to acquire 3,000 beds in Kerala, which is expected to create around 10,000 jobs.
The company currently has a presence in five states, namely Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala and Karnataka, operating more than 16 hospitals with more than 5,000 beds.
KIMS Kerala cluster CEO Farhaan Yasin said: “With this expansion, KIMS Hospitals aims to not only elevate the healthcare standards in Kerala but also make cutting-edge medical care accessible to all ensuring high-quality healthcare reaches all sections of Kerala’s population.”
The expansion began with KIMS’ takeover of Sreechand Hospital in Kannur with the signing of a 25-year lease, along with an operations and management agreement, in September this year.

By GlobalDataKIMS Hospitals has also entered an operations and management contract with Westfort Hospital in Thrissur, where further development work is currently underway.
The group plans to build hospitals in Kerala and develop large ‘health cities’ in Kochi and Kozhikode, each with an 800-bed capacity, over the next two years.
The expansion blueprint includes setting up a fully equipped oncology and transplant centre in Kannur, as well as a 350-bed hospital in Thrissur dedicated to advanced transplant services.
All units of KIMS hospitals will primarily follow an asset-light model.
KIMS Hospitals chairman and managing director Bhaskar Rao said: “Our sole aim is to bring accessible and affordable clinical healthcare services with world-class amenities to the people of Kerala and ensure that no patient in need is deprived of treatment due to financial constraints.”
Earlier this year, KIMS Hospitals entered a definitive agreement to acquire Queen’s NRI Hospital, a 200-bed multi-speciality hospital in Visakhapatnam.
