Diagnostic imaging solutions provider Konica Minolta Healthcare Americas has introduced Exa Enterprise, a cloud-based imaging solution designed to increase efficiency in hospitals and imaging centres.
Powered by Amazon Web Services (AWS), the solution integrates a picture archiving information system (PACS) and radiology information system (RIS) core to provide a scalable, web-based platform with advanced cybersecurity features.
Exa Enterprise is tailored for hospitals with up to 500 beds, as well as hospital-owned and large imaging centres. It includes a suite of integrated, best-in-class third-party partner solutions.
These encompass a vendor-neutral archive (VNA), advanced visualisation, a universal viewer, image sharing, AI-driven workflow orchestration, business intelligence, and speech and reporting capabilities.
Konica Minolta Healthcare Information Technology (HCIT) marketing director Tim Kearns said: “With specialisation in integrated PACS/RIS and private cloud services for imaging centres, including several national, multi-state and independently owned chains, Konica Minolta is well-positioned to design and develop the platform of the future.
“This enterprise ecosystem provides customers with optimal solutions based on their needs and specialities. We see this enabling our customers to clinically advance their practice across the hospital or imaging centre.”

By GlobalDataExa Enterprise aims to simplify the management of medical image data, reducing complexities and costs while encouraging innovation within healthcare organisations.
The platform runs on AWS HealthImaging, which is a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) eligible service that allows medical imaging information to be stored, analysed and shared at a petabyte scale.
Konica Minolta HCIT product management executive director Matthew Andersen said: “Our focus is on workflow and providing the tailored tools that radiologists need to work smarter and make better decisions, sooner, and that imaging centre and hospital department managers need to improve patient outcomes and boost practice efficiency and business operations.”
Konica Minolta developed Exa Enterprise in partnership with several other companies, including Apollo, NewVue, Clearpath Technologies and Quinsite.
