Residents of New South Wales (NSW), Australia, have given their feedback on the Rouse Hill Hospital project being developed in the region.

The A$700m ($454.41m) hospital aims to address the healthcare needs of patients in north-western Sydney.

During August and September, the state government held in-person consultations in Schofields, Castle Hill, Rouse Hill, Blacktown and Westmead, which 350 people attended in total.

A further 90 stakeholders were briefed on the project plans while almost 600 residents responded to an online survey.

The community engagement summary showed support among the local community for the hospital project.

NSW health minister Ryan Park said: “I am delighted to see the interest the community is taking in their new hospital.

“This valuable feedback will help shape the new health facility to ensure it meets the healthcare needs of Sydney’s north-west into the future.

“The new public hospital for Rouse Hill is a key priority for the Minns Labor Government and it’s exciting to see the plans taking shape.

“The Minns Labor Government, myself and the Member for Riverstone Warren Kirby are getting on with the job of delivering this A$700m hospital for the community in North Western Sydney.”

The hospital will include an emergency department, inpatient beds, day surgery services and a range of outpatient services, as well as pathology, pharmacy, medical imaging and ambulatory care services.

It will also offer rehabilitation, lifestyle medicine, virtual care and hospital-in-the-home services.

The project team is currently working on an environmental impact statement as part of a state-significant development application.

This application is expected to be lodged and presented for public review next year.

The team will continue to hold consultations with a range of stakeholders and the local community over the project’s duration.
