Munson Healthcare has announced plans for an expansion and refurbishment project at Otsego Memorial Hospital (OMH) in the US.
Representing a $33.6m investment, the project signifies its progression towards becoming a regional hospital.
The initiative is set to enhance inpatient services and expand speciality services for both the local community and wider regions.
Scheduled to take place over two years starting soon, the project will include updates to acute care facilities and the birthing centre.
Munson Healthcare East Region president Kirsten Korth-White said: “This transformational project marks a significant milestone for Munson Healthcare and the communities we serve.
“By expanding our facilities and enhancing our services, we are not only meeting the current healthcare needs of our region but also preparing for the future.”

By GlobalDataAt the birthing centre, the number of labour, delivery, recovery, and postpartum rooms will increase from four to seven, with the inclusion of two to three triage rooms and an antepartum room.
Furthermore, the centre will be equipped with water birth facilities and a C-section surgical suite, complete with a recovery room.
In the hospital’s inpatient departments, the number of ICU beds will double from five to ten.
The inpatient bed configuration will be restructured to include five private rooms and four private isolation rooms, enhancing patient privacy and care.
These upgrades will also feature dedicated nursing stations.
This renovation forms a component of Munson Healthcare’s Regional Care Transformation Plan, which seeks to optimise resources and provide outstanding patient experiences throughout the eastern region.
The plan covers areas from the Eastern Upper Peninsula to Grayling and beyond.
Munson Healthcare revealed plans in August 2024 for a further $15m investment in an ambulatory surgery centre in Gaylord, bringing the total investment to over $48m for Gaylord and surrounding communities.
