The development of the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, is underway to enhance regional health services.
Representing an A$330m ($210.49m) investment, the project is expected to improve services for communities from north of Batemans Bay to south of Narooma.
Bega member Dr Michael Holland said: “It’s terrific to see the extent of the progress on the new hospital, which will be larger than both Moruya and Batemans Bay hospitals combined.
“New services like paediatrics, intensive care, and an MRI will be provided at the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital, strengthening our local healthcare system supporting more health services for families, the elderly, and everyone in our community.”
The hospital will introduce the region’s first paediatrics unit, an MRI service, and an eight-bed intensive care unit. Its emergency department will exceed the current capacity of Moruya and Batemans Bay’s combined services.
It will also offer mental health beds for short-term care.

This project is set to bolster the local economy by supporting approximately 550 direct jobs, with the potential for hundreds of indirect jobs throughout its duration.
The completion of the Eurobodalla Regional Hospital is anticipated for 2027.
NSW health minister Ryan Park said: “Delivering high-quality health infrastructure and technology plays a foundational role in bridging the healthcare gaps in our regional areas.
“As Health Minister, improving access to health services is an absolute priority to me and this new A$330m Eurobodalla Regional Hospital will be transformative to health outcomes of the region.
“The development of this hospital represents a significant investment in the health and well-being of the South Coast community, it’s exciting to see such substantial progress in such a short amount of time.”
In a related development, the Southern Highlands community is poised to benefit from a new ambulance station at Moss Vale, which is part of the regional government’s A$615.5m NSW Ambulance Infrastructure Program.
This initiative includes the construction of 30 new ambulance stations and the recruitment of over 2,500 staff to enhance emergency services across the state.
