US-based mental healthcare network Connections Health Solutions has opened an emergency behavioural health crisis walk-in centre in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The centre is intended to treat individuals aged older than 14 years facing mental health and substance use emergencies.
It offers walk-in care and crisis stabilisation services, as well as hosting a mobile crisis response team.
The facility has been funded jointly by Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties.
Connections Health Solutions CEO Colin LeClair said: “With the Connections emergency behavioural health crisis walk-in centre, by providing immediate access to all individuals in need, we believe we can radically reduce the use of emergency departments, jails, and unnecessary hospitalisations for mental health and substance use emergencies – allowing us to address individuals’ long-term treatment needs at a lower cost to the healthcare system.
“We’re appreciative of the leaders of Cumberland County, Dauphin County, and Perry County for their vision and partnership to bring a new model for accessible behavioural health crisis care to Southcentral Pennsylvania.”
