Orthopedic Care Partners (OCP) has appointed Ed Tufaro as its new president and chief operating officer (COO), who will join the organisation in January 2025.

Tufaro is set to bring experience in orthopaedic operations from his previous role as Rothman Orthopaedics Institute CEO.

During his tenure at Rothman, Tufaro oversaw 40 locations and more than 200 physicians across multiple states.

His leadership was marked by financial and operational improvements, including a significant restructuring initiative that enhanced the institute’s performance.

Orthopedic Care Partners CEO Dr Tim Corvino said: “I am pleased to welcome Ed and his expertise to OCP’s leadership team.

“This is an exciting time for our organisation and Ed will be critical in leading practice integration efforts, building a high-performance culture, and driving high-impact growth that collectively enhances our patient care and experience at every OCP location.”

Before his time at Rothman, Tufaro spent ten years in various leadership roles within the Memorial Hermann Health System.

He served as operations vice-president at Memorial Hermann Orthopedic & Spine Hospital, and later as orthopaedics vice-president for the entire health system.

His efforts led to an 11% increase in contribution margin, a substantial decrease in surgical site infections, improved patient satisfaction, and a 17% reduction in average length of stay year over year.

Tufaro’s academic background includes an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a BA from Princeton University.

His appointment is expected to enhance OCP’s operating platform, supporting the organisation’s physicians and facilitating the integration of new partners.

OCP has a presence in the healthcare sector, with operations spanning five states and 42 clinical locations, along with six ambulatory surgery centres.
