Cincinnati Children’s, a paediatric health system in Ohio, US, has announced an expansion of its Liberty Campus in Butler County to improve regional access to care for children and families.
The initial investment for the expansion is estimated at $365m, which covers design, construction and medical equipment costs.
The project will more than double the number of inpatient beds and add surgical operating rooms to the campus.
It will include the construction of a medical office building adjacent to the hospital, which will house various outpatient speciality clinics.
Site preparation works are scheduled to begin in March this year, with the construction of the four-storey medical office building to start later in the year.
Cincinnati Children’s president and CEO Steve Davis said: “We are improving access for children and families in and around Butler County by bringing more services close to home.

By GlobalData“New construction, as well as the renovation of existing parts of the hospital, will feature advanced technology combined with the personal touches suggested by patient families, the community, our medical providers and staff.”
The medical office building is expected to be completed by 2027. Following this, clinical services will be relocated to the new building with the aim of optimising the use of space at the hospital.
A subsequent four-storey addition to the hospital will add four operating rooms and three surgical procedure rooms to the campus, as well as a further ten rooms for the emergency department and 72 inpatient beds.
Once this part of the project is completed in 2028, Liberty Campus will have a total of 114 inpatient beds.
More than 100,000ft² of the hospital’s existing space is scheduled to be renovated by mid-2029, improving patient flow and adding eight rooms for imaging.
The expansion is expected to create at least 250 jobs over the next five years.
