UAE-based hospital network Aster DM Healthcare has named Professor Turki Albacker as the new CEO of Aster Sanad Hospital in Saudi Arabia.
The appointment is part of the company’s strategy to expand its footprint in Saudi Arabia’s healthcare sector and focus on delivering patient-centric care.
Albacker’s experience in cardiac surgery, healthcare leadership and medical education is expected to drive strategic growth and financial sustainability at the hospital.
Professor Albacker said: “I am honoured to join Aster DM Healthcare and lead Aster Sanad Hospital in its journey toward clinical excellence and patient-centric innovation.
“Together with our dedicated team, we will continue to elevate healthcare standards and expand access to high-quality services in Saudi Arabia.”
In his role as CEO, Albacker will be responsible for leading the hospital’s strategy, optimising its patient care, and expanding its services.
He will also focus on improving the hospital’s brand positioning and performance in line with Aster DM Healthcare’s long-term objective while implementing ‘lean’ operational processes.
Albacker will report to Mohamed Alshamari, the CEO of Aster Hospitals and Clinics in Saudi Arabia.
Alshamari said: “Professor Turki’s leadership and deep expertise in healthcare will be instrumental in advancing Aster Sanad’s mission.
“His strategic approach and commitment to innovation will enhance patient outcomes and reinforce our commitment to excellence in Saudi Arabia.”
In November 2024, Aster DM Healthcare announced a merger with Quality Care India to form Aster DM Quality Care.
Aster had previously agreed to acquire a 5% stake in QCIL from Blackstone and TPG through a primary share issuance, which would result in a 3.6% stake for the investors in Aster.
Commenting on the agreement, Aster DM Healthcare deputy managing director Alisha Moopen said: “Through this merger with Quality Care, backed by Blackstone and TPG, we are creating a powerful force that will elevate healthcare standards through this strategic partnership.”
