Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) has unveiled plans to construct a 37,000ft² Specialty Care & Urgent Care Center in Abington, Pennsylvania, as part of expansion of the CHOP Care Network.
To be located in the heart of Abington Township, at the intersection of Old York Road (Route 611) and Susquehanna Road, the centre has been designed to provide specialty care to patients in the communities surrounding eastern Montgomery County, lower Bucks County and Northeast Philadelphia.
In addition to 20 to 30 exam rooms, the facility will include ancillary facilities, such as a developmental physical therapy and occupational therapy gym, speech therapy, audiology, radiology (diagnostic X-ray) and EEG services.
Initially, the core outpatient services will include cardiology, orthopaedics, gastroenterology and nutrition, neurology, ENT, endocrinology and diabetes, and pulmonology. An additional 10,000ft² has been allocated for future clinical programmes.
An Urgent Care Center will offer after-hours care for children with mild to moderate illnesses or injuries that do not require an emergency room.
Construction will commence in 2020 and the new facility is slated to open in February 2021.
