Penn State Health has topped out the Hampden Medical Center, a 300,000ft², three-storey acute care hospital, in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania.
Located in the Wentworth Corporate Center, Hampden Medical Center will provide residents of Cumberland and Perry counties and the broader Harrisburg area with access to the primary and specialty care services of Penn State Health, preventing the need to travel to Hershey.
Penn State Health CEO Steve Massini said: “Hampden Medical Center is one way we are delivering on the promise we made together with Highmark Health: Patients across the central Pennsylvania region will be within 10 minutes of Penn State Health primary care providers, 20 minutes of our specialty services, and 30 minutes of a Penn State Health acute care hospital.”
The $200m facility will comprise 108 in-patient beds, emergency department, physician offices, specialty in-patient services, as well as image and lab services and medical and surgical capabilities.
The facility will also feature an open medical staff, with plans to develop collaborative programmes between Penn State Health physicians and private community providers.
An attached outpatient medical office building will also be part of the Hampden Medical Center.
