Swedish medical technology company Sectra has been awarded a contract to deploy its solution at the Netherlands’ Maastricht University Medical Center (MUMC).

An academic hospital, MUMC is a European Society for Medical Oncology designated centre of integrated oncology and palliative care.

As per the contract, Sectra will install radiology imaging solution to help enhance reading efficiency and patient outcomes with lower operational costs. The contract was signed in October 2019.

The scalable and modular solution provided by Sectra will handle around 210,000 radiology examinations on an annual basis. It will enable MUMC radiologists to view all radiology information including images and tools from a single application.

This access, available from anywhere in the enterprise, will help radiologists to both reviews and create reports.

Sectra president and CEO Dr Torbjörn Kronander said “Maastricht University Medical Center is at the forefront of medical imaging in Europe, and we are honoured to have been given their confidence.

“With a shared vision of a multidisciplinary approach to imaging, we are excited to work together to improve effectiveness in healthcare.”

MUMC is a partnership between Maastricht University Hospital and Maastricht University’s Faculty of Health, Medicine & Life Sciences.

In a statement, Sectra said: “The scalable and modular solution supports the most image-intense departments-radiology, breast imaging, pathology, cardiology and orthopaedics.”
