International support services and construction group Interserve has won a contract worth £130m from the Welsh government to refurbish the Prince Charles Hospital located in Merthyr Tydfil, UK.

As part of the final phase of the refurbishment, the company will be responsible for renovating the ground and first floors of the hospital.

Last month, Health Minister Vaughan Gething awarded £220m in funding for Princes Charles Hospital refurbishment.

Set to provide a significant boost to the local economy, the scheme will see creation of more than 80 apprenticeships with over 60% of the workforce employed from Wales.

Initially, the company secured a £25m contract from Cwm Taf University Health Board in December 2018, as part of the next phase of the £36m redevelopment of Prince Charles Hospital.
