Geisinger and Acadia Healthcare Company jointly held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new 96-bed inpatient behavioural health facility in Moosic, Pennsylvania.

The new facility, named Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Northeast, is slated to open its doors next year.

The move comes around six months after the two organisations formed a joint venture to expand behavioural health services in central and northeastern Pennsylvania.

The Moosic facility involves around $40m investment in the community.

Particularly, Geisinger Behavioral Health Center Northeast will improve access to quality behavioural health services for people living in northeastern Pennsylvania.

It will provide care for adult, paediatric and adolescent patients exhibiting symptoms of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other behavioural health conditions.

Both the organisations will build a similar facility in Danville, with construction works expected to begin next year.
