Canada-based Hawkesbury & District General Hospital has awarded a contract to Bondfield Construction to build and finance the hospital’s expansion and redevelopment project.

As per the deal, the contractor will be engaged in carrying out renovations and new construction works at the hospital.

Expected to cost around $125.7m, the project includes the construction of a consolidated ambulatory care centre that will feature speciality clinics, haemodialysis, cardiology services and medical day care; an expansion of the complex continuing care unit; a new perioperative department; and expansion of emergency services.

As part of the project, the hospital will also have an expanded intensive care unit; redeveloped family birthing unit as well as additional acute care inpatient beds.

Additionally, the hospital will feature a new mental health in-patient unit, an expanded medical-surgical unit, a new operating room and expanded diagnostic services.

Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care have agreed to work with the hospital to complete the project.
