The Accident and Emergency department (A&E) at the Portsmouth Queen Alexandra Hospital is set to be redeveloped under a $66.32m (£58m) expansion plan.
The detailed plans for the redevelopment were submitted to the Portsmouth City Council in the UK, The Portsmouth News reported.
A new building will replace the multi-storey car park for the staff at the A&E department and would aid in boosting capacity, BCC reported.
It will also have walk-in entrances to the urgent care as well as paediatric centres while for more seriously ill patients, an ambulance-only entrance will be provided.
Paediatrics, urgent care, trauma and adult majors departments with devoted entrances and receptions will be built around the imaging department.
Furthermore, the new site will have links to the current hospital buildings, aiding in quick patient transfer to emergency theatres and admission wards.

By GlobalDataIn July last year, outline planning permission was granted to replace the current multi-storey car park with a new three-storey facility with ambulance access.
The council is anticipated to make a final decision in April this year while the construction is expected to begin in September.
The Portsmouth News quoted AD Architects, the architects of the new project, as saying: “The new emergency department for the Queen Alexandra Hospital will be part of an overall masterplan for the site.”
“It aims to create a sustainable, flexible health campus which will support Portsmouth Hospital University NHS Trust in delivering effective care into the future.”
