Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) has inaugurated its newly-constructed Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)-Hecktown Oaks Phase 3 in Lower Nazareth Townshi, Pennsylvania, US.
The expansion project of the existing hospital includes an intensive care unit (ICU) for patients aged over 18 and a healing garden.
While the healing garden is open for patients, the ICU is scheduled to offer services from July.
With eight ICU beds and 12 progressive beds, the new intensive care unit allows physicians to triage patients before shifting them.
The ICU beds are placed in private rooms, which include a bathroom and a television with round the clock telemedicine capabilities.
To ensure a safe environment, Indigo-Clean lighting and HEPA filters are placed throughout the ICU. In addition, UV lights are fixed within the rooftop HVAC system to control bacteria.

By GlobalDataLVHN Emergency and Hospital Medicine chair David Burmeister said, “The health and safety of our community was at the forefront of the design of the ICU at LVH-Hecktown Oaks.
“In the event that you or a loved one needs emergency care or requires high-level care in the intensive care unit, you will be in good hands at LVH-Hecktown Oaks.”
The newly-built healing garden is a space for meditation for patients and visitors. Windows within the infusion bay and some inpatient rooms have been designed to give patients a view of the healing garden.
Furthermore, a helipad, meant to transfer patients with emergency needs, is under construction. However, an LVHN MedEvac helicopter will not be based at the site.
The LVH-Hecktown Oaks offers several services. Its diagnostic care centre provides imaging services, lab medicine and cardiac diagnostics.
The hospital also features four surgical suites, an emergency room with a space specifically for kids, cancer care among others.
