New York hospital to implement Constellation's efficiency programme
Nyack Hospital, a 375-bed, community acute care medical and surgical hospital in Rockland County, New York, has selected Constellation to design and implement energy and water conservation measures.
The hospital said it will invest more than $1m in an energy and water conservation project, designed to save an estimated $270,000 per year in utility costs and reduce electricity use by more one million kWh annually.
Under terms of a two-year electricity supply contract with Constellation, the upgrades require no upfront capital from the hospital.
Massachusetts hospital to build urgent care centre in New Bedford
Saint Anne's Hospital, a Steward Family Hospital, has broken ground for a new 10,000ft² urgent care centre at Riverside Landing, on Coggeshall Street in New Bedford, that is slated to open in autumn 2014.
The new centre will offer walk-in outpatient care for non-life-threatening conditions when a patient's primary care physician is not available or when emergency room care is not needed.

According to federal regulations, services rendered by individuals and organisations that have been excluded from federal healthcare programmes due to fraud and abuse convictions will not be eligible for Medicare reimbursement.
If a provider finds that one of its employees or vendors is on the exclusion list, it is required to report this to CMS.
Texas hospital deploys UVDI's V-360+ UV room sanitiser
Medical Center Hospital (MCH), a 402-bed regional medical centre located in Odessa, Texas, has deployed UltraViolet Devices' (UVDI) V-360+ UV room sanitiser.
After evaluating several portable ultraviolet germicidal irradiation products used to disinfect surfaces, the hospital chose UltraViolet Devices' V-360 UV+ room sanitiser.
The V-360+ is a mobile ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI) device that is deployed by environmental services staff to disinfect hospital rooms after cleaning.
South Dakota health system partners YMCI Calmette to develop paediatric clinic
Sanford Health, an integrated health system headquartered in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has partnered with YMCI Calmette Medical Investment & Management Company, a state-owned company of the Yunnan Provincial government in China, to build and operate a children's clinic in the south-western Chinese city of Kunming.
The new two-storey, 18,000ft² Sanford World Clinic will be located in Kunming, a city of more than six million which is growing rapidly and has a significant need for primary care for children.
Under the terms of agreement, YMCI Calmette will own the clinic, and Sanford World Clinic will manage day-to-day operations and provide medical services.
Miami Children's Hospital partners with Jupiter Medical Center
Miami Children's Hospital (MCH), a 289-bed hospital located in South Florida, and Jupiter Medical Center (JMC), a not-for-profit 283-bed regional medical centre, have joined forces to make Miami Children's Hospital the paediatric partner for JMC.
The collaboration is aimed at enhancing patient access to world-class paediatric care, and will take shape in two phases over the next two years.
In the first phase, which will be implemented over the next six months, MCH will assist JMC to implement telehealth technology in its emergency department.
Kindred Healthcare signs definitive agreement to acquire Senior Home Care
Kindred Healthcare, a diversified provider of post-acute care services, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Senior Home Care for $95m.
Kindred expects to finance the transaction with operating cash flows and proceeds from its revolving credit facility.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary conditions to closing, but Kindred expects to close the transaction in the fourth quarter of 2013.
UC Health begins constructing new medical centre in Florence
UC Health has broken ground on a new 42,000ft² outpatient medical office building in Florence, Kentucky.
Its location on Cavalier Boulevard in Florence will provide easy access to Interstate 71 and Interstate 75.
UC Health is working with Cincinnati-based Al. Neyer to design and construct the facility, which is expected to be complete in July 2014.
