The global healthcare industry noticed a 0.9% drop in IT hiring activity in September 2022 over the previous month, led by Intermountain Healthcare’s 25.38% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The healthcare industry’s overall hiring activity increased 1.14% when compared with August 2022.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 1.26% share of the global healthcare industry’s hiring activity in September 2022, down 0.07% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of September 2022 were 3.43% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 6.93% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 31.2% emerged as the top IT occupation in the healthcare hiring activity in September 2022, a 0.59% decline over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in second with a share of 28.01% in September 2022, up 72.6% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a 17.6% share in September 2022, a decline of 12.36% over the previous month, and Computer Support Specialists with a 10.97% share in September 2022 and a drop of 1.66% over August 2022.
Top five healthcare companies by recruitment activity in September 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 103.31% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global healthcare industry during September 2022 over August 2022.
Intermountain Healthcare posted 685 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a rise of 180.74% over the previous month, followed by CVS Health with 173 jobs and a flat growth. Laboratoryof America Holdings with 75 IT jobs and McKesson with 55 jobs, recorded a 31.58% growth and a 41.03% rise, respectively, while Your World Healthcare recorded a flat growth with 55 job postings during September 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in healthcare industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global healthcare IT hiring activity in September 2022 with a 91.89% share, which marked a 12.37% rise over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 4.37%, registering a 174.42% month-on-month growth. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 3.41% share and a 5.75% rise over August 2022.
In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 0.26% and a month-on-month flat growth. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.07%, registering a 100% increase over the previous month.
