Australia-based construction company BESIX Watpac has broken ground on the $90m Eastwood Private Hospital in Adelaide, reported Glam Adelaide.
The six-storey facility will feature advanced amenities such as a six-theatre perioperative floor, a 51-bed ward, a multi-level car park, a café, retail spaces, and essential medical imaging and pathology services.
This hospital aims to offer a comprehensive range of healthcare options, with a particular focus on reducing surgery waiting times.
The Eastwood Private Hospital project ensures sustainability, targeting a four-Star Green Star rating.
BESIX Watpac’s portfolio includes infrastructure projects for the Department of Defence and the GPO Hotel Marriott, as well as the expansion and refurbishment of Adelaide Airport’s terminal.
BESIX Watpac CEO Mark Baker was quoted by the news website as saying: “Our extensive expertise, collaborative approach and knowledge of the technical and services requirements of health and sciences infrastructure will contribute significantly to the successful delivery of this project.”

St John of God Ballarat Hospital in Victoria, Australia is undergoing a redevelopment project that involves the establishment of a new medical services building at the front of the hospital.
The project includes the creation of a new 10-bed ICU/CCU, a Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), four operating theatres, and a 30-bed in-patient ward.
This redevelopment aims to meet the healthcare needs of the growing Ballarat and surrounding regions, providing residents with quality healthcare locally.
The project is slated for completion in the second quarter of 2024.
