Berkshire Health Systems (BHS) is set to expand urgent care services in Massachusetts, US by opening a new site at 489 Pittsfield Road, Lenox.
The new facility, which will operate daily from 8am to 8pm, is scheduled to launch this winter.
It will offer care for minor illnesses and injuries, on-site X-ray services, and testing for common ailments.
The new location marks BHS’ second Urgent Care site, with the first being in Pittsfield.
Similar to the Pittsfield site, the Lenox facility will integrate into BHS’s coordinated care system, enhancing collaboration among healthcare providers.
It will accept various insurance plans, including private commercial insurance, Medicare, and MassHealth through the Berkshire Fallon Health Collaborative, similar to the Pittsfield location.

By GlobalDataBHS vice-president of Community Health Roberta Gale emphasised the importance of accessible healthcare, stating: “The majority of our area residents are reliant on government health coverage, Medicare and Medicaid/MassHealth, and it’s critical that they have easy access to Urgent Care services that do not require high co-pays or uncovered out-of-pocket costs.”
BHS president and CEO Darlene Rodowicz noted: “The opening of the Lenox urgent care facility furthers our expansion of access to care, which also includes our Pittsfield Urgent Care, the reopening of North Adams Regional Hospital and the BHS Nurse Line. The Berkshire Health Urgent Care in Pittsfield has consistently been praised for its exceptional care and has experienced steadily increasing patient volume, which led us to expand this essential service to the community.”
Since its inception in September 2015, the Pittsfield Berkshire Health Urgent Care has served thousands from the Berkshire area. Patient visits have surged, more than doubling from more than 17,000 in 2020 to over 35,000 in 2023.
Earlier this year, BHS reopened North Adams Regional Hospital in Massachusetts.
