Healthcare data retrieval network Briya has formed a partnership with Italian scientific research hospital Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza to overcome the challenges of accessing quality, real-world data (RWD) in Europe.
Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza, located in San Giovanni Rotondo, treats more than 200,000 patients per year.
Access to quality RWD is crucial for advancing medical innovation, but obtaining this data in Europe is difficult.
The collaboration aims to reduce this difficulty by allowing global researchers to integrate diverse Italian datasets into their real-world evidence (RWE) studies.
Such integration is expected to refine clinical insights, enhance inclusivity, and improve patient outcomes.
Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza CEO Dr Gino Gumirato said: “Collaborating with Briya provides us with a unique opportunity. We can securely share and analyse data, and take part in groundbreaking discoveries. We are excited to lead the charge in enabling access to high-quality real-world data (RWD) from Italy.”
Briya’s platform, which complies with all local and global regulations, including the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) laws, offers researchers European RWD access.
Briya co-founder and CEO David Lazerson said: “We are thrilled to partner with Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza.
“Their commitment to excel both in patient care and research aligns perfectly with our mission to accelerate innovation through data. This partnership paves the way for increased ex-US RWD use, which is still in its infancy.”
This partnership with Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza focuses on using healthcare data to support medical advancements, both in Italy and globally.
In September 2023, Briya completed a Series A financing round, raising $11.5m to expand its platform to US hospitals.
